"Not Your Ordinary Log Cabin Quilt"
96" X 120"
Finished Block Size: 12"
Level: Intermediate (mostly because of the center applique, which Sandy and I are working on to modify!)
You will be able to control the top's visual effect by choosing a dramatic three-color scheme, or going for a scrappy look using fabrics with softer, graduated values. This picture shows the quilt laid out in a Barn Raising pattern, however, you can make pinwheels, streaks of lightening, etc.
**You can reduce the quilt to Queen or Full size by cutting narrower strips or by reducing
the number of strips per block. Its all your choice!
I personaly love this pattern, it reminds me of the South West.....

The slits are each 12 inches long and run parallel to each other, 1/2" apart. At right-angles to the slits is a set of 12-inch-long black lines running parallel to each other, 1/2" apart.

This is the last Stripping on the Blvd Class for 2008
I am already working on classes for next year.
This is the last Stripping on the Blvd Class for the year 2008. This is the end of our 2nd year, WOW….how the time has flown by and what fun we have had. And the finished quilts have been OUTSTANDING.
This class will begin at 9am and go until 4pm, so that we can Share Quilts that we have made during the year and also take time to have lunch.  Those of you who are NEW, will love seeing all the quilts that this group has completed.
Pot Luck – Salad Bar – I will provide the LETTUS and everyone can bring the goodies
that will go into our salad, including your favorite salad dressing.

This month, just for the fun-of-it, we are going to be doing a MYSTERY QUILT…..
The finished size of this quilt is 60” X 60” and is a SCRAPPY QUILT.
It’s FUN, FAST, and EASY and really GREAT looking!

You will need:
•Approximately 1 yard - Assorted LIGHT/LIGHT Prints for the background.
You will need 14 – 3” strips, Sub-cut strips into (128) 3” X 3” squares and set aside. You will have fabric left over. If you wish, you can use ONE print, but for a SCRAPPY LOOK, use assorted prints, small to medium print size.

• 2 Yards Total - MEDIUM DARKS to DARK DARKS – these must have a DEFINITE contrast from you LIGHT/LIGHT.
Suggestion: Reds, Golds, Greens and Blacks for the blocks. These must be darker then the background fabric. You will be grouping these strips according to color sets(**YOU CAN PICK YOUR OWN COLORS if you wish…being sure to pick FOUR Color ranges)
You will be cutting these into varying size strips, -  1” to 2 ½”.
**FOR THOSE OF YOU who just want to pick fabrics from their stashes, this quilt can be made very scrappy, forgetting about the color sets! JUST remember, that your fabric MUST be MEDIUM DARK to DARK DARKS. There MUST BE a definite contrast to the BACKGROUN fabric.

CHECK OUT YOUR STASHES…this is a good quilt for using up all those pieces that you didn’t know what you were going to do with!  Remember, all you need is 1” to 2 ½” Strips. Vary the sizes……

I always suggest that you purchase your BORDER, BINDING AND BACKING
fabric…..after you see what your quilt top looks like. You will be using left over strips for the outer border, if you wish!

Quilt of the Month Series
'QUILT OF THE MONTH' Pattern.
AUGUST Quilt is ''SIMPLE SIMON" ' from the STASH POT PIE - Scrap-O-Licious Series.
This is the 12th and last Quilt Pattern in this Series.
This quilt offers a unique twist on the traditional Flying Geese pattern. By offsetting the blocks, you’ll
create a space for a center square. This square could be a plain fabric, but don’t overlook the
opportunity to fussy-cut a floral or novelty print, or use a photo transfer. Each block consists of four
Flying Geese units—one pointing north, one west, one south, and one east. If Simple Simon met a
pie man going to the fair, he’d certainly get lost with this block guiding his way!
(Sorry, but if you are just signing on - we can only send you the most current pattern posted.)
If you are not already signed up for this Monthly Series, you may
Request a PDF file of the current months pattern by E-Mailing Rosie
Write: Sign me up for "Stash Pot Pie' in the Subject Line.....and you will receive the
quilt patterns monthly. This series will be coming to an end, however, there will be another series to follow.
NOTE: To those of you already signed up for the Quilt of the Month series,
you will be receiving information about the new series soon.
